At rest: understand your resting energy expenditure
You breathe through a mask while sitting or lying quietly. Resting energy expenditure is calculated from measured oxygen uptake and carbon dioxide output. This can help tailor nutritional advice.
Resting energy expenditure is not the same as your total daily energy requirement. Movement and other daily activities add to it. The measurement also does not show how energetic you subjectively feel.
During exercise: insight into your response to exertion
During supervised exercise, we measure how your oxygen uptake and breathing change. Depending on the protocol and measurement quality, the data may help tailor training intensity.
A resting test does not determine maximal oxygen uptake. A suitable exercise test is required to assess peak or maximal oxygen uptake. Our respiratory gas analysis is not automatically equivalent to a full medical cardiopulmonary exercise test; referral may be needed for a medical diagnostic question.
A baseline measurement with a clear question
We discuss what you want to know beforehand and whether the test can answer it. For example, resting energy expenditure as a basis for nutritional guidance, or your response to exercise as part of a training plan.
- An explanation of preparation, test type and costs beforehand.
- Assessment of suitability and capacity for activity.
- A report with the results; choose an option with a personal evaluation if desired.
- A repeat measurement only if it helps answer a specific question.
What does the test not tell you?
The test alone does not establish the cause of fatigue, sleep problems or long COVID. Nor does it predict whether IHHT, NESA or red light will work for you. Results depend on preparation, recent food intake and exercise, measurement conditions and the protocol, among other factors.
Which test suits you?
An exercise test is not suitable for everyone. Where there are symptoms, a medical history or worsening after exertion, we first discuss whether and how testing is appropriate. With long COVID and PEM/PESE, an exercise test is not a standard component. You receive personal preparation instructions beforehand.
Prices: one test or both together
Choose a resting test (RMR), exercise test (AMR) or both. Every option includes a report. A personal evaluation is included in the options that state this.
- Rest OR exercise + report: €160.
- Rest AND exercise + report: €210.
- Rest OR exercise + report + evaluation: €250.
- Rest AND exercise + report + evaluation: €300.
Choose separately. Or as part of your programme.
You can have the test without a treatment programme. If a baseline measurement is included in your programme, your proposal specifies which test, report and any evaluation are included. A repeat measurement or second type of test is not automatically included.
A measurement is a tool for a specific question, not a compulsory step for every visitor. We discuss beforehand what the result could add.
